Strawberry-Rhubarb Pie and New Beginnings
It’s worth savouring the little things in life. Quiet nights at home. Good company. And, yes, strawberry-rhubarb pie.
I should clarify ā all kinds of pie are great. Well, most pies. Mincemeat pie is wholly overrated and I will willingly argue that point to the death.
But I’m sure you’re wondering…
…of all the possible topics to start your first blog post on your site, Patrick, why on earth would you choose pie? Well, the answer to that one is fairly simple: my mother’s a very avid baker and made a strawberry-rhubarb pie last night. And she decided I didn’t have enough pie at home (she was right,) so she dropped a piece off for me at work. And let me tell you, it was hard not to devour it at 2:00 p.m. during a slow moment at the office.
But somehow, I held on. I brought it home, where it was promptly stashed in the fridge while I promptly got lost in the development of this site. So lost that I didn’t have a quick dinner until 8:30 p.m. So lost that, after a while, I had to take a break. And that break brought with it an opportunity to stop and savour the little things in life. Quiet nights at home. Good company, in the form of my roommate. And yes, strawberry-rhubarb pie.
See? The facts don’t lie!
The truth is, the little things keep us moving forward toward the bigger things. And the small joys in life are what give us the strength, the determination and the will to achieve the things that enable us to enjoy the little things. It all seems a bit cyclical, doesn’t it? And yet, I know it’s these little things that powered me into a night of coding and designing and, now, writing.
Welcome to my little slice of the Internet. I’m not sure exactly what I’ll be using this blog for ā professional musings? Brain dumps? A revival of my sadly abandoned St. Louis (now Los Angeles) Rams blog? The future holds many mysteries.
